There is something to be said
There is something to be said
For the 23 year old wearing a mask
Sitting on the floor of the bookstore
In the poetry section, reading.
Not noticing the other patrons
Perusing the plentiful platforms for pages.
Looking, but not reading.
Stopping, but never truly still.
There is something to be said
For the 23 year old recently engaged
Sitting on the floor of the bookstore
In the poetry section, searching.
Searching for a glimpse of a moment,
A turn of phrase or a twisted metaphor
With which to describe his feelings
Of sitting in the poetry section, reading.
Alone in the bookstore filled with patrons
Pursuers of pretty covers with pages.
He feels the touch of his soon to be wife
As she pulls him back from his dream.
Of sitting on the floor of the bookstore
In the poetry section, reading.
