Wallitner Weekly 2
Hello everyone! Thank you for being here for the second ever Wallitner Weekly! Your support means the world to me.
A lot of productive things happened this past week.
So we discovered that My Fiancée’s car has a broken transmission (Super lame). But we’re working on getting it fixed!
I visited my grandparents farm this past weekend and it was such a rejuvenating experience. My grandmother has started reading a lot of poetry lately, so I shared some of my work and I gave her my “The Trouble With Poetry book”. You should’ve seen her light up. I love being able to chat with my grandparents. I cherish those moments.
I have begun recording music theory videos! I want to be able to post a video every day or two so I am stockpiling at the moment. I have been able to write the scripts for about five videos per day. Then I record as many as I can, once my fiancée is done teaching in our living room. The editing process is what is taking up the most time, so hopefully I can speed up that process. I do hope that these videos will be helpful. I would love any feedback you have for me!
I also signed myself up for the Charlie Puth Masterclass that is on Monthly. Im hoping that I will learn the skills to properly write and produce pop songs like he does, that way I can write cool upbeat music for commercials and other videos.
I have a lot planned for next week too!
This weekend I hope to record some of the members only videos. These will be more detailed versions of the theory videos. As well as ear training tutorial videos. This information will be invaluable to someone wanting to learn how to be a better musician. Then during the weekdays I will be posting these videos!
This week reminded me something I did in college.
One of the most important things about writing music for a living is being consistent. One of the ways I decided to practice this was to write a minute of music every day. It didn’t matter if that minute was good. It didn’t matter if it was a complete piece. It only mattered that I wrote a minute of music. I made this promise because the only thing I wanted to practice was the consistent act of writing. This helped me avoid things like writers block, or getting into a rut where I only write one kind of music. It made me a better composer.
This past week or so I have started running. Well, my brothers have been running and I am trying not to get left behind! As of now, my brothers have been running at least a mile every day for over 70 days. As of the release of this Wallitner Weekly, I am on day 14 of running a mile every day.
I am not committing to running a fast mile, I am only committing to making my legs move me a mile every day. The first day I SEVERELY underestimated how out of shape I was. I tried to keep up with my brothers and I made it about a tenth of a mile before I needed to start walking. They ran three miles, and I jogged/walked/crawled about a mile and a half. On day two I was SO SORE I could barely walk up the stairs in my oldest brothers house, but I ran that mile and it felt better than it did the first day. Then the third day I wasn’t nearly as sore and I was a little faster. By the 7th day I stopped being sore after running. Now on day 14 it’s almost therapeutic.
Don’t get me wrong, I am still incredibly slow! And of course there are days where I don’t want to run. However, I am much healthier because of it. It is just like when I was writing a minute of music a day. I didn’t always want to do it, but doing it made me better. I wasn’t even good at it when I started it, but doing it made me better. AND the more I did it, the faster I got.
So if there is something in your life that you want to be better at, or a goal you want to achieve. All I can say is make the commitment and do a little every day. You’ll be slow, there will be days when you don’t wanna do it, but you won’t get any closer to your goal at it unless you start moving.
Thank you for Reading! See you next week!
